Red Christmas cheer

A selection of recent RED felt pins.

Things have been quiet in this space. I have been out in my studio working on stuffies and felt pins (like these for Craft Victoria's RED Christmas) and knitting up a storm for a handmade Christmas.

Encountered in Flinders Lane

Recent stuffies of mine appear in the window of Craft Victoria for hammer & daisy.

All the things to take to our very own archipelago.

29th September – 19th October, 2008

Craft Victoria, 31 Flinders Lane, Melbourne.

A window for recent things made by Gracia & Louise and Thelma. Filled with the things we have made by hand, from images printed on paper to things sewn with needle and thread. We have the paper for correspondence and we have the stuffed creatures to populate the many small islands.

(Thank-you for all your kind words in regard to Stella. She is making a good recovery. Her tongue still lops out the side but her grey fur is growing back around her jawline. It will be a slow journey back to full health.)

At night

Last week at the opening.

I couldn't make it to the opening of My Little Menagerie in person due to yoga teaching commitments, but I hear it was a hoot.

Thank-you for the homemade lemonade you sent me, folk at MINE. Such a nice surprise!

My Little Menagerie

Yesterday the three of us, Gracia, Louise & I, set up My Little Menagerie in the window. Here is a look at it, from start to finish... as you can see, I am not one who believes in editing photos.

Thanks honeybun 1 and honeybun 2 for your help.

Stuffies are coming

A selection of new handmade Thelma's stuffies of mine slated to appear in both Olinda and here.

Soon to feature in the window of children's store MINE, in Olinda.

3rd September - 13th October, 2008

Wednesday 3rd September

Some come with buttons for noses and others sport stripes on their stumpy tails. Some have small pockets filled with tiny red felt hearts and others have ears that flop from left to right. Some are rotund and others are lean, and some come with lips that are wide and arms wider still. Differences, quirks and individual mannerisms aside, all stuffed creatures are made completely by hand with a full percentage of love by Elaine Haby (who masquerades, with her foot on the peddle of her sewing machine and a pin in her mouth, under the name Thelma).

These are her things handmade especially for you, a host of stuffed creatures and roomy tote bags fashioned from Belgian linen. A recent addition to her handmade parade, her tote bags are large enough to house a stuffed companion alongside a favourite read. Lined and double-stitched for good measure, they ought to afford a grin.

Thanks Brydie for this opportunity.
