In a recent copy of a French edition of Marie Claire I came across the work of artist Isabelle Tibeault. She makes amazing animal masks that are nothing like the above. This morning I am looking at animal masks on the internet and wondering what one I would pick for my self to wear.

Over My Shoulder II
Over My Shoulder (II) from gracia & louise on Vimeo.
Shaky of hand, several weeks ago now, I took self and collaged book and sat in the domed reading room of the State Library. Once again, I invite you to turn the pages with me.
Eager for the old joys once more is 23 pages in length and features collage and pencil across reproduits par la glyptographie. There is a hare in le panorama detaille, and someone you may well know seeks an audience in the Vatican. A golden feline bears witness to a crime, a rabbit escapes the carving knife. The laboratory is no place for you, and death comes to us all. The principaux tableaues of the Musée Grévin serve as education.
Apologies to film and video makers the world over, and thank you Valery Gergiev and the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra (Tchaikovsky: Symphony #5 In E Minor, Op. 64-3. Valse: Allegro Moderato).

New stuffies
With two trips overseas on the cards (New Orleans this year, Tuscany next year), I have many Thelma's stuffies to make before I can hop on the plane. These are a few from a recent batch and most of these are headed for Craft Victoria.

Bird sounds
Birds on the Wires from Jarbas Agnelli on Vimeo.
Reading a newspaper, I saw a picture of birds on the electric wires. I cut out the photo and decided to make a song, using the exact location of the birds as notes (no Photoshop edit). I knew it wasn't the most original idea in the universe. I was just curious to hear what melody the birds were creating.
I sent the music to the photographer, Paulo Pinto, who I Googled on the internet. He told his editor, who told a reporter and the story ended up as an interview in the very same newspaper.
Here I've posted a short video made with the photo, the music and the score (composed by the birds).
Music made with Logic.
Video made with After Effects.

Farewell Tasmania, Hello New Orleans
Last month we popped over to Tassie for a lovely visit.
This time next month we'll be in New Orleans.
We intend to go back to Tassie again and not leave it so long between visits. Loved catching up with friends and taking in the sights of Hobart. Planning next time to shop, shop, shop at Salamanca and catch up with the handsome black-nosed Rosco.

Whitetail in Snow
Missing the film fest
The Man Who Came With the Snow.
1992. Somewhere in the former Soviet Union. A man enters a lowlife bar. He sits and observes, not speaking.
Gradually, the silent presence of this stranger begins to disturb the other customers – thieves, prostitutes, lunatics and two very young children, a brother and sister selling pistachio nuts. When the bar closes, the man walks out into the freezing night towards a shocking revelation.
Wrestling with issues that plague the former Soviet Bloc nations, Makhmalbaf continues the pointed political commentary that saw him jailed as an activist, and made him one of the strongest cultural voices to emerge from Iran.
