In the back garden

Over My Shoulder (IV) from gracia & louise on Vimeo.

"Before this collaged artists' book of mine, 'I chanced upon the unexpected and found I liked it', makes its way to the State Library of New South Wales, I sat outside and turned its pages.

I am in my parents back garden, the season is spring five days in, and the clock chimes in the background.

We are in Worcester. Or are we?

A suite of prints available

The passage home was long.

A possible shortcut is considered.

A moment to hold close to the chest.

Looking for a way in.

A chance sighting.

One moonlit night with little to no prospect of success.

They had returned.

It was worth it if only to see the stars scuttle across the shore.

Eight new prints now available through Gracia & Louise's online store. Go and see.

It's not too late for you to enter this great giveaway

, originally uploaded by gracia+louise.

"A GIVEAWAY FOR YOUR ASSISTANCE.
(View larger to see the number listed at bottom right... it will help.)

I am printing six of my postcard collages as full-colur prints of roughly the same size as the original work. The prints will be 20cm X 16cm on Fabriano bright white 300gsm cotton paper. Only thing stopping the plates from being made and the ink rolling is my decision and I. Can you help me decide which six collages I should print. The prints will be an edition of ten. Above are a few for you to pick from, sixteen in fact. However, if you have a favourite postcard collage of mine not seen above, sing out and I will add it to the running tally.

For your help, I will be giving away three different prints to three different souls. Just leave a comment below (or on either of the two recent posts listed below) with which work or works you think I should make into a print and you will go into the running.

Thank you, all of you, in advance.

Recently posted,
A giveaway for your assistance.
(The potential for) A purse of winnings."

Over My Shoulder (III)

Over My Shoulder (III) from gracia & louise on Vimeo.

Turn the pages once more, peer over my shoulder, I've a new artists' book to share.

'Looking only for you' is 28 pages in length and features collage and pencil across the pages of 'Der Rhein' (Von Mainz bis Köln no. 524, Karlund Bremer & Co, Köln A.R.H.). It was exhibited in 2009 as part of 'A key to help make your own world visible', and now resides in the State Library of Victoria's collection.

Thanks to Omar the Siamese cat for making appearance and Louise for the filming. Small iPhone magic not possible without either.

MUSIC CREDIT: 'Bandoneon' Antero Jakoila

From the film 'The Man Without a Past' ('Mies vailla menneisyyttä') by Aki Kaurismäki.

Who are you?

Who are you? from gracia & louise on Vimeo.

A colour zine by Gracia & Louise with a hand-cut turning element and window. Fastened together by a small silver pin to enable easy spinning, this zine is modeled upon a familiar game of old; rotate the disc to decide which character you will be today. Will you be a parrot? Will you be a big cat? Will you sport a pair of ears? We're curious, who are you?

Over My Shoulder II

Over My Shoulder (II) from gracia & louise on Vimeo.

Shaky of hand, several weeks ago now, I took self and collaged book and sat in the domed reading room of the State Library. Once again, I invite you to turn the pages with me.

Eager for the old joys once more is 23 pages in length and features collage and pencil across reproduits par la glyptographie. There is a hare in le panorama detaille, and someone you may well know seeks an audience in the Vatican. A golden feline bears witness to a crime, a rabbit escapes the carving knife. The laboratory is no place for you, and death comes to us all. The principaux tableaues of the Musée Grévin serve as education.

Apologies to film and video makers the world over, and thank you Valery Gergiev and the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra (Tchaikovsky: Symphony #5 In E Minor, Op. 64-3. Valse: Allegro Moderato).
